Hello Planet KDE!

Hello Planet KDE!
This is my first official post to the planet, so I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I'm Jayson Rowe, I'm currently a Server Admin, sometime Software Developer (in training), and most recently KDE contributor.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Join the Game member Gaurav Chaturvedi for The Dot, and I've been working with the KDE Promo team to revive the Behind KDE series of interviews with KDE contributors. I recently noticed that there had been no new interviews in about 18 months, and I've always enjoyed these interviews personally. I've already had four folks accept my invitation for an interview, and I have two more interviews out waiting on response.

I really value this chance to finally give something back to KDE, and be a part of the greater upstream KDE community. I welcome any comments or feedback on potential interview questions, any potential interviewees you may have in mind, as well as any offers of help with editing or contacting folks for interviews.

In addition, I am a Server Admin, and I'm willing to help KDE with any sysadmin tasks that may be available. I would love to be at a point to where I can actually be a KDE developer, but as of now, I lack the C++ skills for that, but perhaps that will change in time.

I would like to thank everyone who has done an interview with me so far, it's been great learning more about you. I would also like to thank the very helpful folks on the KDE Promo team for making me feel welcome, and getting me up to speed very quickly.

  1. Welcome aboard!! And yes I miss those Behind KDE interviews too...
When you spend all day on IRC at the end of the day you might only recall a nickname, with the interviews you can get more social... maybe even find out that you were talking to a neighbor :P

  2. Welcome to KDE! Glad those interviews are resurrected, they make us feel more like a community. There are some pretty special stories within KDE which can be a trigger for other people to start contributing too.

  3. Dude, your interviews are awesome :D

    Keep it up and welcome.
